Arrow FH Martin Employees Raise Money for Gleaners
December 6, 2007
This holiday season, in light of the local economy and the difficult times facing so many in our community, FH Martin Constructors has once again made a donation on behalf of our clients, employees and friends, to Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. In addition to the company donation, FH Martin staff members - in the true spirit of the season - also pitched in to help those in need.

In November and December, we held four in-house fundraisers to collect money for Gleaners, including: a barbecue luncheon, a pancake breakfast, a bake sale and an ice cream social. The dollars collected at these fundraisers were added to our company donation, making it a true gift from our entire staff.

On Saturday, September 15, a group of 23 volunteers - made up of FH Martin employees and their family members - worked at the Gleaners Community Food Bank Warren Distribution Center. The volunteers (the youngest being a pre-schooler), worked for three hours sorting food and beverages for distribution to homeless shelters and soup kitchens. The experience was not only rewarding, but a lot of fun as well.

In addition to volunteering at Gleaners, FH Martin employees are holding a food drive in support of Gleaners. Non-perishable food items are being collected, and will be donated to Gleaners by the end of September.

FH Martin Constructors is one of a few Southeast Michigan construction companies to donate hard hats to volunteers who are going to Mississippi to continue the Hurricane Katrina cleanup effort. The hats are being collected by the Associated General Contractors of America Greater Detroit Chapter (AGC), and will be used by a group from St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dexter, Michigan. The volunteers, who will be working through the National Relief Network, will travel to Mississippi the last week of July.

Hats off to AGC and the volunteers from St. Joseph's Church for taking the time to do such important work!
